Tom Shaw's journey from trapping muskrats on the Rock River as a teen to retiring as CEO of Shaw Media is a testament to his lifelong values and leadership. Starting in high school, Shaw learned independence and entrepreneurial spirit through trapping, earning significant income for the time. His career in media began early, and he ascended through various roles, ultimately shaping Shaw Media (est. 1851 by his great-great grandfather, Benjamin Flower Shaw) into one of the most respected newspaper companies in the country. Under his leadership, emphasis shifted to employee satisfaction and community impact, reflecting his belief in nurturing talent.
Shaw was a delegate to both Republican National Conventions that nominated Ronald Reagan in 1980 and '84, and is the former chairman of the Lee County Republican Central Committee. He and his wife Tammy have six children, nine grandchildren, and about 20 foster children.
Tom Shaw became an official member of The Citizen Farmers in May of 2024!
